The Steering Lock Emulator for the Mercedes Sprinter is an electronic device designed to simulate the operation of the original Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) unit.

In normal conditions, the ESL locks the steering wheel when the vehicle is turned off and communicates with the car’s ECU (Engine Control Unit) via the immobilizer system. When the ESL fails or is physically damaged, the ECU receives an error signal, which may prevent the engine from starting.
