The Steering Lock Emulator for the Opel Astra K is an electronic device designed to simulate the operation of the original Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) unit.

In normal conditions, the ESL locks the steering wheel when the vehicle is turned off and communicates with the car’s ECU (Engine Control Unit) via the immobilizer system. When the ESL fails or is physically damaged, the ECU receives an error signal, which may prevent the engine from starting.

The emulator is installed in place of the faulty ESL and sends the correct “all OK” signal to the ECU, mimicking the behavior of a fully functional steering lock. This allows the vehicle to start and operate without replacing the original ESL unit.
